One of the most constant questions I get asked is “how do you do your eyebrows?” I rarely get them done professionally unless it’s for a special occasion or I’m getting my hair done at a beauty salon. I just don’t see the reason why to pay a weekly visit if I can achieve the same results at home, easily. Now, don’t get me wrong, if I had the time, money, and energy to pay a weekly visit to my eyebrow lady I would, but since I don’t, I can’t. Besides, doing them at home is so easy especially if you know what you’re doing.
If you want to know how to achieve salon groomed brows at home, keep reading.
Before getting out those tweezers and plucking every stay hair in sight you’re going to need to prep your brows first. You can use an ice cube to numb the area if you would like. Or if you really just do not care at all you can step right into lotion or shaving cream.
You’re going to need
- Tweezers (slanted tip and pointed tip if you have both)
- Eyebrow/bikini razors
- Eyebrow grooming scissors
- Eyebrow brush
- Shaving cream
- A small towel
- An ice cube
The White Eyeliner Trick
Now, if this is your first time doing your eyebrows I suggest doing the white liner trick. What the white liner trick is you take white eyeliner and outline the shape you want your eyebrows to be. Then, you pluck everything on that line or that is out of the line. DON’T PLUCK WHAT’S IN THE LINE. Stay away from all the hairs inside the white eyeliner barrier. Not everyone can pull of the ‘no eyebrows’ look and I’m most positive you don’t want to find out if you can.
Unless you really want to…
Then by all means do go ahead.
Start, Arch & End
Before you do anything you want to know where your eyebrow stars, where the arch is, and where it ends. Again, if this is your first time and you’re not sure about it then use this simple trick. Take the end of a makeup brush or your eyebrow razor and place it against your nose going straight up. That’s where your eyebrow begins anything to the opisite side can be removed. Then tilt your tool at a slight angle and that’s where the arch of your brow is. If you tilt it just a little bit more you can see where your eyebrow ends.
For a visual demonstration look at the chart I have displayed below.
Become The Eyebrow Queen
When you have everything ready to go, your shaving cream or lotion on your eyebrows and you know where you will be removing hair, begin to use a razor to remove multiple stray hairs around the perimeter.
Then, use a tweezer with a slanted tip and remove the extra hairs. If you have slightly bushier brows and want to tame them use an eyebrow brush and brush the hairs upward, then take your scissors and trim them. When you’re done wipe off the shaving cream or lotion off using your towel and observe your eyebrows in the mirror. If you see any strays you’ve missed use a razor with a fine tip to remove those stubborn little hairs. When you’re all done place a little bit of lotion over them!
