Home Made Nail Soaks to Get Rid of Stains

Stained nails can be unsightly but luckily there are some easy to make nails soaks to try out for when nails can be a bit discolored.

Peroxide Soak
A soak made from hydrogen peroxide and baking soda works well to remove stains.
1.) Mix 1/2 cup of hot water, 1 tsp of hydrogen peroxide and 1 tbsp. of baking soda in a small plastic bowl. Stir with a spoon until the baking soda powder dissolves.
2.) Dip your nails into the solution and let it soak for 10 minutes or until stains are removed.
3.)Wash your hands with soap and water when done and apply hand lotion for hydrogen peroxide can be harsh on your skin.

Denture Cleaner
Denture cleaner has active ingredients that can remove tough stains from hard, white surfaces.
1.) Dissolve a denture tablet into a small bowl and wait for it to completely dissolve.
2.) Soak your nails into the denture water for 5 minutes, when you’re done rinse hands with warm water.

You can repeat this soak a few times a week for continued progress.

Lemon Juice and Soapy Water
The acidic properties in lemon juice helps get rid of stain particles in your nails.
1.) Mix 1/4 cup of lemon juice with 1 cup warm water and 1 to 2 tbsp liquid soap in a glass or plastic bowl.
2.) Soak your nails in this mixture for 5 minutes.
3.) Rinse your hands under running water and apply lotion to prevent your hands from drying out.

White Vinegar
Vinegar can also help get rid of stains however only use white vinegar for apple cider vinegar, balsamic vinegar or any other colored vinegar will stain your nails.
1.) Pour 1 cup of warm water into a bowl and add 1 tsp to 1 tbsp of white vinegar and soak your nails in this mixture for about 8 minutes.
2.) When done, rinse your nails under running water and apply lotion to prevent skin from drying out.
