Winter doesn’t just bring a rosy glow to the cheeks and nose. It also brings uncomfortable dryness to the skin. Skin dries out in the winter for several reasons: The humidity is lower. There is cold dry air outside, and hot dry air inside. The suns UV rays are still out and about.
Here are some tips on how to take care of your skin in the winter:
Keep it Cool
A nice long shower with boiling hot water sounds nice on a cold, winder day.. however, it isn’t the best thing for your skin. It actually strips moister from the hair and skin.
When we don’t drink enough water our skin becomes dehydrated just like our bodies do. Dehydrated skin has a dull appearance that may be avoided by consuming water daily.
Just because it is winter it does not mean that the sun’s harmful UV rays are gone with summer as well. It is important to apply sunscreen (15-30 minutes before heading outside) on your hands and face to prevent it from the flakey and dryness from happening. Stay away from any products that contain alcohol as one of their ingredients for alcohol causes dryness. Also, don’t forget to apply a facial moisturizer in the morning after washing your face and at night time while getting reading for bed. For a moisturizing face mask, take a look in the kitchen before heading down the beauty aisle: Bananas, avocado, egg yolk, and milk can all make great moisturizing face treatments. Exfoliate at Least Once a Week
At least once a week treat yourself with a good exfoliate to get rid of those dead skin cells. However, be sure not to over exfoliate your skin for it is not good for you at all.
Care for Your Lips
It’s kind of a no brainer to apply chapstick or lip balm frequently to prevent chapped lips. However, it’s also important to exfoliate your lips as well.
